Bishop Verna L. Peterkin started the luncheon in 2008 when the Lord gave a vision to help the Pastors take time away from their churches to rest for at least two to three hours - just a brief getaway. The very first luncheon that she hosted included approximately twenty-five pastors and their spouses. The luncheon attendance has continued to grow annually (consistently 100+).

The luncheon started as a free event for the Pastors. After the third year, the Lord spoke to the late Bishop Sarah Perry and said continue this luncheon every year. For almost seven years Bishop Peterkin funded the event with the help of many of the local Pastors who donated time, food, ministries, and talents.

During the eighth year, the committee agreed to rename the Pastors' Luncheon to the Bishop Verna L. Peterkin Annual Pastors' Fellowship Luncheon. Every year, the Pastors come together for a mini getaway, to take a breath and be refreshed and poured into, so that they can go back to their churches to serve - stronger, wiser, better. We also take the time each year to honor several local Pastors for their service to the community and Body of Christ with a certificate and monetary gift.
